Farrides ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Farrides mobile application and the website at farrides.com (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By using Farrides, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

When you register for an account or use our Service, we collect:

  • Identity information: Full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender
  • Profile information: Profile photograph
  • Account credentials: Email and password used for authentication

1.2 Location Data

We collect location data to provide our core ride-booking service:

  • Pickup and drop-off locations: Addresses and GPS coordinates you provide when booking a ride
  • Real-time GPS location: Your device's precise location to detect your pickup point and display your position on the map

Location access is requested only when needed. You can manage location permissions through your device settings. Disabling location access will limit your ability to use certain features such as automatic pickup detection.

1.3 Booking and Transaction Data

  • Ride details (pickup, drop-off, distance, fare breakdown, vehicle type)
  • Booking history and ride statuses
  • Payment method selected (cash, UPI) and payment status
  • Coupon codes applied
  • Ratings and reviews you leave for drivers
  • Completion codes (OTP) generated for ride verification

1.4 Device and Technical Data

  • Device type, model, and operating system version
  • Push notification tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
  • App version and build number
  • Crash logs and diagnostic data for improving app stability
  • IP address and general network information

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our ride-booking service
  • Match you with available drivers based on your location
  • Calculate fares and process bookings
  • Send ride confirmations, driver assignment alerts, status updates, and OTP verification codes via push notifications
  • Maintain your ride history and booking records
  • Enable you to rate drivers and provide feedback
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or misuse of the platform
  • Monitor and improve app performance using crash logs and diagnostics
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

3.1 With Drivers

When you book a ride, we share your name, phone number, pickup and drop-off locations, and booking details with the assigned driver so they can complete your ride. Drivers can see your location on the map during an active ride.

3.2 With Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:

  • Supabase: Database hosting, user authentication, and real-time features
  • Google Maps Platform: Maps, geocoding, directions, and distance calculation
  • Firebase (Google): Push notifications and crash reporting
  • Bunny.net: Secure file storage and CDN for profile photos

These providers only access data necessary to perform their functions and are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations.

3.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government regulation, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies that restrict access to authorised users only. All communications between the app and our servers are encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.

Profile photos are stored on Bunny.net CDN with unique identifiers and are not publicly listed. We do not store payment card details — all payments are handled directly between passengers and drivers (cash or UPI).

While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your data to the best of our ability.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Booking records are retained for accounting, legal compliance, and dispute resolution purposes.

If you request account deletion, we will process your request and remove your personal data from our active systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain data by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing our terms).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Update or correct your profile information through the app
  • Delete your account through the app or by submitting a request at farrides.com/delete-account
  • Withdraw consent for location tracking by disabling location permissions on your device
  • Opt out of push notifications through your device settings

7. Children's Privacy

Farrides is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Our app or website may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on our website and in the app, and by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Farrides after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
